2024 Game Day Football Shuttles
CATA will provide shuttle services for the PSU vs. SMU playoff game on December 21st. Full campus service will be available in conjunction with the playoff game.
CATA will again be providing service to the Penn State football home games this season via the Game Day Football Shuttles.
Click here for a printable schedule that includes all of the information on routing, stops, hours of operation, and fares found on this page.
Please Note: Like many other businesses in the area, CATA is experiencing staffing shortages that may result in service delays and riders are encouraged on game days to anticipate these on both the shuttle and on CATABUS fixed-route service throughout the day. Information on service updates and real-time route and schedule information are available through the myStop mobile app and at realtime.catabus.com.
ROUTING
The Game Day Football Shuttle service consists of two separate routes that provide continuous service between some of the area hotels, Downtown State College, and Beaver Stadium.
Downtown Shuttle: serves primarily the Downtown hotels and the three Downtown parking garages.
South Atherton Shuttle: serves the many hotels along South Atherton St. along with several other areas where you can park and ride including:
- The parking lot in the rear of Hills Plaza (not Hills South-see Hills Plaza parking map)
- Along the street in Windmere Park (Rolling Ridge Dr, & Windmere Dr.) In Windmere Park, parking is only permitted along the street, except on the north side of the street on the northern loop. Parking in off-street private business lots is prohibited.
STOPS
Both shuttles will stop only at the specially marked shuttle stop locations along the routes. In addition to the areas noted above, riders may take also advantage of on-street parking along and close to South Atherton Street, University Drive and Easterly Parkway to access the South Atherton Shuttle.
Each shuttle stop location is designated by a special sign showing which of the two shuttle routes serve that stop. Each route will only stop at these marked locations. The photo on the right shows an example of a stop served by regular CATABUS routes and the South Atherton Game Day shuttle Route service. | |
SCHEDULE
For All Games: Service begins three hours before kickoff and run continuously until one hour after the game is over. (After the games, service operates one-way from the stadium only.)
Once the shuttle stops, fans can take advantage of the no-fare LOOP routes that operate continuously between the Loop stops near Beaver Stadium and Downtown State College. The Blue Loop operates until 12:30 a.m. while the White Loop operates until 2:30 a.m.
FARE
The fare is the same as it is for the CATABUS Community Service ($2.20 per trip) and all of those same fare options are accepted on the Game Day Football Shuttle service. Click here to get more information on all of those options.
In addition to cash, tokens and other CATABUS pass options, Game Day Shuttle riders have the option of purchasing an unlimited ride day pass via the Token Transit mobile ticketing application. Click here to learn more about how to purchase and use the pass.
HILLS PLAZA PARKING - IMPORTANT
Parking near Hills Plaza is permitted only in the following three areas:
- Parking for the Game Day Shuttle is NOT permitted in front of the Hills Plaza.
- Along Rolling Ridge Drive (not in the off-street parking lots unless with permission of the property owner)
- Along Windmere Drive (not in the off-street parking lots unless with permission of the property owner)
These parking restrictions are necessary for the Hills merchants and their customers who, through their contribution to this parking area, make this valuable service to the community possible. Cars parked outside of these permitted parking areas will be subject to ticketing and towing and may cause Hills Plaza to close the parking lot to Game Day Shuttle patrons altogether. Riders not following these restrictions will not be permitted to board the shuttle. Your cooperation is appreciated.
Since parking at Hills is limited, fans arriving at Hills within one hour of kickoff are encouraged to proceed directly to Windmere Drive or Rolling Ridge Drive where they will be able to park much closer to one of the pickup points than at Hills. Riders are also reminded that there are approximately 80 parking spaces available at Easterly Parkway Elementary School which is served by both the South Atherton and Downtown shuttles. The shuttle stop on Beaver Avenue at Schlow Library is within two blocks of all three of large downtown parking garages.
OTHER SHUTTLE OPTIONS
In conjunction with Penn State University, Fullington Trailways also offers round-trip transportation to and from Beaver Stadium for Penn State home games.
