Tap to Pay Starts in April
Getting around town is about to get even easier! Starting in April, CATA will roll out a brand-new way to pay your fare: Tap to Pay from Token Transit. No app, no cash—just tap and ride.
What is Tap to Pay?
It’s simple: when you board, just tap your contactless credit or debit card or your mobile wallet-enabled phone on the new reader. Look for the contactless symbol on your card—most major cards issued in recent years have this feature. If you prefer using your phone, you can tap with a digital card in your mobile wallet.
Here’s how it works:
- Tap your card or digital wallet app screen on the reader when you board.
- Wait for the green screen and light to confirm your fare purchase.
- That’s it—you’re ready to ride!
No fumbling for cash, no searching for tickets. Just tap and go.
What types of payments are accepted?
Token Transit accepts Visa, Mastercard, and mobile wallets on all vehicles. At this time, accepted mobile wallets include: Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay. Note: Not all prepaid cards allow Tap to Pay. Check for the contactless payment symbol on your card before tapping.
The Token Transit App is Still an Option
Love using the Token Transit app? You don't have to change a thing! With Token Transit, you can still:
- Buy your fare in the app.
- Scan your QR code on the validator when you board.
- Skip the cash and speed up boarding.
Pro tip: Have your QR code ready before you board for the quickest experience.
