Planned Service Changes for 2026
Join us at one of the public input meetings on April 8 at Schlow Library to share your questions and feedback on CATA’s service. Below are the service changes we anticipate through Fall 2026. Your input plays an important role in shaping our service.
- Summer and Fall 2026 New HV (Toftrees/Vairo) Route: A new weekday HV route will launch this summer, providing direct Monday - Friday service to improve late-night access and mobility in State College.
- Fall 2026 White Loop Route Frequency Improvements: Based on CATA’s service proposal to PSU, White Loop service will run more frequently, with buses arriving as often as every five minutes during peak times to reduce congestion.
- Finals Week Service Enhancements: Based on CATA’s service proposal to PSU, additional Red Link trips will be available on Monday and Tuesday during Penn State’s finals weeks, along with increased service on key community corridors to meet higher demand. These changes will start in finals week, December 2026.
- H (Toftrees) Route Updates: The H route will return to standard 40-minute frequency. Service at Mount Nittany Health Toftrees will shift to the microtransit CATAGO! service for more reliable coverage.
- Labor Day Service: CATA will begin operating on Labor Day (Sep. 7), expanding travel options for riders attending community and social events.
- On-Demand Hospital Service: Beginning July 1, demand response service will expand to include pre-booked trips to/from Mount Nittany Medical Center from within the designated service area, highlighted below in blue, replacing the discontinued Penn State shuttle service.
