CATA Announces Service Adjustments, Plans Public Hearing
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — The Centre Area Transportation Authority (CATA) has announced proposed service adjustments to begin in January as the transit industry, including CATA, experiences the effects of a national transit driver shortage.
Proposed adjustments affect the AC (Atherton Street), CC (College Ave), NV (Havershire/Martin/Vairo/Toftrees), RP (Waupelani Dr/Downtown), and
UP (University/Parkway Circulator) lines. A full list of proposed adjustments can be viewed on the CATA website at catabus.com/ProposedServiceAdjustments.
Public comments on the proposed service adjustments may be submitted in person at the public hearing, by emailing [email protected], or by contacting CATA’s Customer Service Center at (814) 238-CATA (2282) during normal business hours.
All comments received by noon on Monday, Nov. 16, will be considered by CATA. Final decisions will be based on a variety of factors, including operational needs, fiscal and workforce constraints, and public input.
Once finalized, the service adjustments will take effect Jan. 11, 2027.
“Service adjustments are always frustrating, but the proposed modifications are the most responsible step we can take to ensure that CATA continues to provide safe, reliable and sustainable service,” said CATA CEO Todd Horsley. “Public transit providers across North America are experiencing significant workforce shortages. CATA’s bus drivers enable the high level of first-class transit service that the community expects. Our drivers are the best in the business, but we need more of them.”
