STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — The Centre Area Transportation Authority (CATA) bus stop on West College Avenue at South Allen Street is expected to be temporarily closed from Monday, Sept. 28, to Thursday, Oct. 1, pending weather.
PennDOT announced the stop closure earlier today, along with a single-lane restriction on State Route 26 (College Avenue) from McAllister Street to South Allen Street, as crews replace the existing concrete at the bus stop.
Riders can expect delays on all routes operating along College Avenue on these days. For riders affected by the stop closure, the following alternative stops may be used during the closure:
- All riders are encouraged to use the bus stop at Pattee Library.
- Riders on the CC, NV, RP, or UP routes may use the stop on East College Avenue at Atherton Hall. Due to congestion in this area, only riders using these four routes should use this stop.
- Riders on the AC route are encouraged to use either the stop on Beaver Avenue at Schlow Library/CATA Office or the stop at the Walker Building.
“After several years of wear and tear, the pavement at the College & Allen bus stop is in critical need of repair, and we appreciate PennDOT scheduling the repair work," said CATA CEO Todd Horsley. "We also realize that the temporary stop closure and traffic mitigation will inconvenience our riders, and we want to thank everyone in advance for their patience while the pavement is being fixed".
Normal service will resume once PennDOT finishes their work.
