Text Alerts

Real-time next bus arrival times can be accessed for every stop by texting CB (stop#) to 321-123. Bus stop numbers are included when you click on any of the stops in the CATABUS Locator. They are also included at the top of the schedule displays located at each stop. For example, you would text CB285 to 321-123 to receive the next departures from that stop for every route serving that stop via text

Please note that while CATA does provide“Lost and Found” service as a convenience to its passengers, it assumes no responsibility for anything left on our buses.

Lost and Found items that are turned into CATA are handled the following way:

  • All items, except bicycles, are kept for two weeks. After two weeks, items of value (cellphones, wallets, purses, electronics) are taken to State College Borough Police Department. Any other remaining items will be donated to local charities, destroyed, or discarded.
  • All bicycles are kept for 90 days. After 90 days, bicycles are turned over to the Ferguson Township Police department.

All inquiries regarding lost items need to be made by calling the telephone number noted above during the times listed. 

Fares

Fares are required for each one-way trip (each stop made is counted as one trip). Please have exact fare ready as drivers do not carry change.

Available Fare Payment Options 

Two payment options will be available for all patrons (Senior Shared Ride, ADA, and the general public), effective Monday, July 1, 2019. Patrons may either:

  • Pay in cash upon boarding the CATARIDE vehicle for each one-way trip; or,
  • Prepay for trips.

Patrons may prepay for trips using cash, credit card, or check made payable to CATA. The minimum amount that may be placed on account at one time is $25.20 (six one-way trips). Purchases may be made in person, over the phone, or by mail through CATA’s Customer Service Center, (814) 238-CATA(2282), 108 E. Beaver Avenue, State College, PA 16801-4921. The office is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The prepaid amount will be recorded in scheduling software used by CATARIDE.
