CATA JOB APPLICANT EVALUATION PROCESS

CATA has established processes and procedures to ensure that vacant positions are filled in a manner that ensures the best qualified applicant is hired. CATA is currently recruiting for a Director of Transportation

The Director of Transportation position reports to the Assistant General Manager for Operations and participates as a member of the Executive Management Team. The Director supervises approximately 175 employees and directs the day-to-day operational oversight for the Transportation Division including development and implementation of policies, procedures, and practices, as well as activities related to fixed route bus transportation, bus and facility maintenance, project management of capital projects, and administration of the collective bargaining agreement. Starting salary for this position will be between $80,000 and $90,000.

The Centre Region (approx. pop. 93,000) is nestled in the Appalachian Mountains in Central Pennsylvania and is comprised of several municipalities, including the Borough of State College which has an approximate population of 42,000 and is the largest borough in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Service Person (2nd or 3rd Shift)

Do you have an employment background that includes intermediate level skills in the maintenance and repair of CNG, gasoline and diesel engines? A proven strong work ethic, with good organizational skills and the ability to work with a diverse team, are just what we are looking for. This position requires flexibility, the aptitude to follow direction and the capability to perform a variety of physical, work-related tasks. Successful completion of CDL Class A with Passenger Endorsement training and testing will be required - CATA provides training and testing for the right candidate.

We are located in State College, PA just on the outskirts of the Pennsylvania State University campus. We are nearing completion of a major expansion of our facilities that will provide a state of the art working environment for our growing employee base.

As a Service Person at CATA, you will be working with a team of dedicated employees who are committed to providing excellent service to our staff and customers. Some pertinent responsibilities of the position are listed below.

• Assisting in performing general maintenance and repair of transit coaches, automobiles, and equipment;
• Performs periodic maintenance on vehicles in conformance with manufacturer’s specifications and requirements;
• Inspects vehicles for damage and wear;
• Changes and repairs all sizes and types of tires;
• Does minor mechanical repairs and performs minor component replacement and repair;
• Makes service calls to repair and/or retrieve disabled vehicles;
• Works in conjunction with mechanics on major repairs;
• Performs Pennsylvania State vehicle inspections per vehicle code;
• Operates and qualifies on fuel dispensing equipment to include CNG, Diesel and Gas;

Bus Cleaner (Hours of work will be between 6:00pm – 9:00am)

Do you have an employment background that includes customer service, a strong work ethic and the ability to work with a diverse group of people? This position requires flexibility, the aptitude to follow direction and the capability to perform a variety of work-related tasks. Successful completion of CDL Class B with Passenger Endorsement training and testing will be required - CATA provides training and testing for the right candidate.

As a Bus Cleaner at CATA you will be working with a team of dedicated employees who are committed to providing excellent service to all of our staff and customers.

Some pertinent responsibilities of the position are listed below.

• Cleans interior of CATA vehicles, includes sweeping and mopping bus floors, dusting seats;
• Cleans exterior of CATA vehicles, utilizing a mechanical bus washer when available;
• Cleaning glass windows, doors and mirrors, washing of all window casings and tracks;
• Cleans all chrome railing materials, straps and driver areas;
• Vacuuming and cleaning of all upholstery using the appropriate cleaning equipment;
• Cleaning of light fixtures and washing down all interior surfaces including walls, seat bases, vent casings;
• Empty all trash from the vehicle; replace trash bags;
• Restock vehicles with supplies, as needed; verifying that service vehicles are amply stocked with supplies and supplies are properly requisitioned and recorded;
• Turn in all lost and found articles to dispatch as outlined in CATA policy;
• Properly maintain and clean equipment and work areas at the end of each shift;
• Keeps storage and work areas clean at all times;
• Drives, maneuvers and parks vehicles with demonstrated skills;
• Reports all maintenance issues to Supervisors;
• Maintains knowledge of fixed route operations; should the regular Bus Operator position become short staffed, the Bus Cleaner will be assigned to drive a fixed route and fulfill the functions of a Bus Operator, as needed;
• May, on demand, be required to switch out buses with in-service buses that require a return to the shop/maintenance area;
• Ability to project a positive image of a Bus Operator and of CATA services;
