I.                   PUBLIC HEARING TO RECEIVE SUGGESTIONS ON CATA’S BUS SERVICE

Chairman Spychalski opened the public hearing at 4:00 p.m.

Eric Bernier referenced his memo, which provided an outline of CATA’s current service planning philosophy, and the format for the public hearing, and also a memo, which provided a synopsis of the public comments CATA has received since the February 24, 2014 public hearing.

II.                PUBLIC COMMENT

The individuals named made the following comments during the 2015 public hearing.

Joseph Januszkiewicz, Waupelani Drive, State College, PA: enjoys CATA very much; wouldn’t know what he’d do without it; would like to see additional service on the B and F Routes to facilitate his trips to the veterinarian, as well as to visit friends in Pine Grove Mills.

Michael Johnson, Conover Lane, State College, PA: enjoys CATA with a stop in front of his house; inquired about CATA’s long term plans in relation to the potential addition of train service in the region.

Lillie Langlois, Lemont, PA:  loves CATA, appreciates the M Route and wrote an article for the Lemont Village Association newsletter about the increased service times; appreciates the Ride for Five program having been expanded to include Penn State graduate students and wants to start a competition with Penn State faculty and staff; provided an executive summary of a rail feasibility study and encouraged CATA to consider providing comment before the end of the comment period in March.

Terrance Dowel, University Dr., State College: requested and received clarification regarding CATA’s policy about a passenger’s need to remove a Halloween face mask, which a White LOOP driver had required the previous day.

Tim Gleason, S. Allen St, State College, a member of the Centre County Green Party: expressed appreciation for CATA; inquired about whether service to and from Snow Shoe had ever been considered.  Chairman Spychalski referenced CATA’s ongoing efforts to provide alternatives to the single occupancy vehicle and spoke about the availability of ridesharing through the CATACOMMUTE program.

Scott Sieron, E. Hamilton Ave, State College: expressed appreciation for the public hearing, for CATA’s service and the expansion of Ride for Five program to include Penn State graduate students; referenced the additional service that operates only the “H” end of the HP Route due to the new development in Toftrees and suggested that ridership growth on the “P” end warranted consideration for some additional service along the Pugh Street end via those routes, particularly during the morning and afternoon rush periods.

III.             PUBLIC HEARING ADJOURNMENT

Following no further comments from the public, Chairman Spychalski closed the public hearing at 4:23 p.m.
